Sandra Benites, 1ª curadora indígena do Masp, pede demissão após exclusão do MST em mostra

Carta Capital – Anunciada em dezembro de 2019 como a primeira curadora indígena de um museu de arte no Brasil, Sandra Benites pediu demissão do Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand, o Masp, após a exclusão de seis fotografias de uma exposição a ser realizada a partir de 1º de julho.

A antropóloga enviou ao Masp, nesta terça-feira 17, uma carta com o pedido de demissão. Na mostra Histórias Brasileiras, ela assinaria pela primeira vez um projeto após quase três anos como curadora adjunta. As fotografias excluídas faziam parte de um dos oito núcleos da exposição, que levava o nome de Retomadas.

Twitter’s shareholders and the financial institutions backing Elon Musk’s bid to take over the company must use their power to center and uphold the human rights of hundreds of millions of people who use the platform across the globe. With no adequate risk mitigation measures in place, Elon Musk’s takeover of the tech giant is jeopardizing the company’s long history of steadily improving protections for human rights, in collaboration with civil society around the world. Through open letters to shareholders and financial institutions, Access Now, and civil society organizations, investors, and investor advocates are calling on these stakeholders to act now and withhold their support and approval for the sale unless the necessary human rights safeguards are put in place. 

“Most of these giant asset management companies and financial institutions have advocated for sustainable and responsible business practices, and made public statements about benefiting society and the public good,” said Laura Okkonen, Investor Advocate at Access Now. “This is the time for them to demonstrate they will actually walk the talk, and apply those ambitious principles to a deal that would profoundly impact people around the world.”

People are still angry about the UK’s 2020 grading algorithm experiment

Does anyone remember how two years ago, in the depths of the pandemic, the UK government decided to let a computer give everyone their A-level grades, based in part on their schools’ “historic performance”? Major class divides were exposed. The government quickly reversed their decision; students were given grades predicted by their teachers instead. But at that point, lots of kids had already lost their university places. They were told they could reapply next year. Hardly anyone talks about it anymore.
